Description

Sodium benzoate granulate is the sodium salt of benzoic acid produced to British Pharmacopoeia (BP) specifications. It comes as a white, crystalline or granular powder that is odorless and has a slightly salty taste. Sodium benzoate is known for its preservative properties and is widely used in industries as diverse as food, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics.

Applications

Sodium benzoate is applied in various ways, for instance:

1. Pharmaceutical Industry

Applications in oral liquids, syrups and topical products as a preservative.

2. Cosmetics & Personal Care

In shampoos, lotions and creams as an antimicrobial ingredient.

3. Food Industry

Used as a preservative (as food additive E211) in products such as soft drinks, fruit juices, marinades and pickles. It inhibits the growth of fungi and bacteria.

4. Technical Applications

Also used as a corrosion inhibitor in antifreeze and coolants.
