Applications
Calcium nitrate is applied in various ways, for instance:
1. Concrete Sector
It serves as a hardening accelerator for concrete, especially in cold conditions. By accelerating the curing process, it improves the strength development of concrete.
2. Agriculture
Calcium nitrate is used as a water-soluble fertilizer. It provides plants with nitrate nitrogen and calcium.
3. Water treatment
Calcium nitrate is used to reduce odor nuisance by preventing the formation of hydrogen sulfide.
4. Heat storage & refrigeration technology
In combination with other salts, it is used in thermal energy storage and cooling systems, for example in solar power plants.
