Applications
Calcium formate is applied in various ways, for instance:
1. Chemical Industry
It is used as a buffer, pH regulator or excipient in various synthesis processes.
2. Leather & Textile Industry.
In the leather industry, calcium formate is used as a tanning aid and masking agent. It accelerates the absorption of chromium salts during the tanning process and contributes to a homogeneous final result.
3. Environmental Technology
Calcium formate is used in flue gas desulfurization and as an additive in antifreeze and gritting agents, where it reduces corrosion to infrastructure and vehicles compared to traditional salts.
4. Construction
Calcium formate is used as a hardening accelerator in cement and mortar, especially at low temperatures. It shortens the curing time, increases the early strength of concrete and reduces efflorescence.
